About Ron Aldridge
His career as a Director/Playwright/Actor has spanned over 40 years.
He is a qualified business trainer and for the last 20 years he has combined his various and nefarious theatre activities with teaching these ‘Personal Impact and Presentation Skills’ programmes across a wide range of business organisations in the UK, and also in Frankfurt, Antwerp, Manila, Hong Kong, Madrid, Geneva, Vancouver and New York. He uses his extensive theatre experiences to help develop within the delegates the thought-processes, mental disciplines and performing techniques of the professional performer.
He has directed in repertory theatre; on the London Fringe; at the Edinburgh Festival; in Tel Aviv (directing in Hebrew); in Krakow (directing in Polish), in Vienna (in English); in the Far and Middle East (for Derek Nimmo Productions); on numerous U.K. touring productions and Summer Seasons, and in the West End of London. He has had the pleasure of directing, among others; Brian Murphy, Judy Cornwell, Victor Spinetti, Carmen Silvera, Art Malik, Rula Lenska, Henry McGee, Trevor Bannister, Vicki Michelle, Nicholas Ball, Gareth Hunt, Kim Hartman, Susan Penhaligon, Bill Pertwee, Neil Stacey, Gareth Hale and Norman Pace.
He has written sixteen stage plays, five of which have been published by Josef Weinberger Ltd – ‘You’re Only Young Twice’, ‘It’s Never Too Late’, ‘That’s Love’, ‘My Dog’s Got No Nose’ and ‘Scared To Death’.
His one-man play ‘Hovering’ was nominated for an award at the ’97 Edinburgh Festival, and his children’s play ‘Eat A Rainbow’ premiered in New York September 2011.
His play, ‘Three’s A Crowd’, had its World Premiere in Antwerp, translated into Flemish, in September 2015 and his latest one-man play ‘Tears of a Clown’ also premiered in Antwerp, translated into Flemish, in October 2017.
Productions of ‘various’ of his plays are currently being presented in Hungary, Belgium, Holland, Finland, South Africa, Switzerland and Poland.
As an actor notable West End appearances have included the lead role in the award-winning ‘Children of a Lesser God’ (Albery theatre) opposite Elizabeth Quinn, numerous stints in the long-running comedy ‘Run For Your Wife’ (Criterion, Duchess, Aldwych and Whitehall theatres), ‘Funny Money’ (Playhouse theatre – also assistant director), and the ‘Odd Couple’ (Haymarket theatre) alongside Jack Klugman and Tony Randall. Others he’s had the pleasure of acting with include; Eric Sykes, Terry Scott, Les Dawson, Honor Blackman, Lionel Jeffries, Una Stubbs, Lorraine Chase, Patrick Mower, Windsor Davies, Charlie Drake, Lynda Baron, Matthew Kelly, Anneka Rice, Britt Ekland, and Ralph Bates.
Television appearances include; ‘London’s Burning’, ‘The Bill’, ‘2.4 Children’, ‘Fools Gold’ with Sean Bean, ‘Minder’ with George Cole, ‘Nelson’s Column’ with John Gordon Sinclair, ‘Eastenders’ with Barbara Windsor, and Bronco in ‘Only Fools and Horses’ with David Jason and John Challis.
